Vlad and the Great Fire of London
A Flea in History
New 2nd Edition of the bestselling story Vlad and the Great Fire of London, with fabulous new illustrations.
It is September 1666. Vlad the flea and his friend Boxton the rat, love eating and biting their way around London.
But one night in Pudding Lane they are caught up in a fire that threatens to destroy them, along with most of the City of London.
Detailed images show how the fire started and spread, and take the reader from the fateful spark to the blazing inferno. The illustrations show the Londoners, as they fight the fire and prepare to escape with all their belongings. The story ends with them scattered in the fields around the city. The story and information is based on original sources and artefacts, and include Samuel Pepys and his diary.
The book includes a Fact File at the end, to clarify information and what we know about the events over 350 years ago.
This is part of the Flea in History series which teaches children historical information by engaging them in adventure stories. Each Vlad flea book has a wide range of free linked resources and activities for home and school, which can be found on the Free Resources page and in the children’s section.

Quirky and appealing take on the Great Fire of London which my seven-year-old son really enjoyed. Fabulous illustrations which only enhanced the story. Highly recommended.
