School visits excite, educate and stimulate children.
You don’t have to take my word for it – a report by the National Literacy Trust (2019) found that pupils who had an author visit:
- were twice as likely to read above the expected level for their age (31% vs 17%)
- were more likely to enjoy reading (68% vs 47%) and writing (44% vs 32%)
- were more likely to be highly confident in their reading (37% vs 25%) and writing (22% vs 17%)
Before writing the Vlad Flea books, Kate was a teacher. This means all visits are curriculum linked and packed with lots of facts and ideas to feed into the children’s work after the visit.
We will talk about what happened, how we know about it, and have fun along the way.
In addition Kate will talk about her love of reading, and how the work the children do in the classroom, is related to the writing and editing that is needed to publish a book.
There are both online and in-person visits, and both include free linked teaching resources, and an offer to buy signed books with a discount.
