This is Vlad Flea’s first prehistoric adventure, and as always it has its roots in archaeological finds. Star Carr is near Scarborough in Yorkshire. Over 11,000 years ago it was on the edge of Lake Flixton. In modern times it has become a site of extraordinary finds, showing how in the middle Stone Age there were settlements where people built homes and jetties, fished and hunted. Amongst all this there are also the 33 deer masks and beads and a shale pendant that is thought to have been a map.
