reading books without words

Many baby books do not have words but sharing a book is more than reading words.  You are learning to share an enjoyable experience, hold a book the right way up, turn the pages, look at the pictures and talk about it.

But wordless books are not just for babies. There are also fantastic books with no words for older children. David Wiesner produces the most beautiful books that are so detailed and memorable (click here to see his website)

This is a clip of me reading with Freddie.  The quality of lighting is poor but what I want to share is the experience and repeating it might make it look more beautiful but would have lost the “realness” and spontaneity of Freddie’s reaction.  That is what I want – real experiences.  Click on the picture to watch Freddie reading Chalk.
