As a working parent I know that finding the time to do everything is often the biggest barrier. I have been on both ends of giving and receiving lists of homework and it can be overwhelming. However, with my teacher-hat on I know that if you were to choose one activity to help your child succeed in school, reading is by far the most important and impactful priority.
So how do you find the time and resources to read regularly, and are there things you should know about how children learn to read and what you can do to make it fun?
The links on this page will lead you to printouts and videos that aim to help with all this. They will give you:
- practical suggestions around finding time, books and enthusiasm
- activities to make reading and learning a pleasure rather than a chore
