Reading Riddle is a family affair, and we also have some other lovely people who help us to make the books, tell people about them and keep everything running smoothly. 


Sam illustrates the Vlad books with his incredibly detailed images. He graduated from Gloucestershire University. He produced the murals for the Family Corner in the Florence Nightingale Museum and images for The Carpenter’s Tale and The Scaffolder’s Tale in The National Archives graphic arts project e-book, Chronicles of the Dissolution – piety, plunder and protest which is available here. Kate worked for a development charity before training as a primary teacher. She taught in London schools for 9 years before writing the Vlad picture books. She is now writing more Vlad stories and visits schools and libraries (often dressed in a kirtle) to run sessions for primary children. Buddy Peace is a podcast and music producer in Margate. He currently produces podcasts for Scroobius Pip (Distraction Pieces), Brett Goldstein (Films To Be Buried With) and local company Hæckels (Blue Mind Podcast), and a lot more besides. He’s been making music and DJing since the 90s, which often blends into podcast compositions and branded works as well as beat tapes and collaborations. Buddy is also involved with various radio projects in Margate, and you’ll catch him on the beach with headphones on, holding a microphone pointed at the sea.


Katie Sadler is a marketing consultant who works with authors to help them build marketing plans that deliver good results, but also feel good for the author to put into place. Emma is an actor whose experience includes theatre, TV, film, voiceover and now audiobooks! Emma met Kate while performing as Florence at the Florence Nightingale Museum, she loved the character of Vlad the flea and enjoyed reading the Florence book to captivated audience members.
